Dagon

Dagon is a fiction short film based on the H.P. Lovecraft story of the same name. Set in the 1920s, the film is also heavily inspired by the noir genre and uses processes such as a black-and-white colour-grade to reflect this.

As Writer and Director of this project, I took on the responsibility of leading a team of 12 people to bring to life one of my own scripts for the first time. Tackling a period-piece for my directorial debut proved to be very challenging considering our budget of only £250. Resourcefulness was a key factor in pre-production and showed just what could be achieved with a bit of searching and ingenuity.

Throughout this project I was able to develop my writing skills through taking on script feedback from crew members and I was able to improve my directing ability through conversations with actors both in rehearsals and on set.
